We are thrilled to announce that thanks to support from LocalGiving Magic Little Grants and funds provided through the winding up of the Four Heatons Traders Association, we now have a new wheelchair accessible picnic table. It’s been in the planning stages for over a year, and it’s finally been installed in July 2023.
Located in the ‘Tennis Court Quadrant’ and near the Elms Road entrance, it has the same look as two other metal picnic tables in the park. Its tarmac base connects directly to the tarmac path, so access should be smooth.
The nearby wooden picnic table was designed for wheelchair users, but it can be a challenge to bring a wheelchair over the lawned area between the table and the path.
For this picnic table, we are very grateful to generosity of the Four Heatons Traders Association and of Localgiving Magic Little Grants. The Traders Association has been wound up, but the Heatons Post Network is taking over the role of connecting local businesses. Magic Little Grants are made possible by a partnership between Local Giving and the Postcode Neighbourhood Trust, a grant-giving charity funded by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.
