Do come and meet your friends and neighbours, enjoy some drinks and nibbles.
Learn more about this unique Victorian Park and the Friends of Heaton Moor Park,
and, if you can spare any time at all, how you could contribute.
29 years ago, a group of local residents formed a group, now known as the Friends of Heaton Moor Park, to reverse the poor condition of the park following reduced council resources, with the aim of restoring the park to its former glory.
Since that early beginning in 1995, the Friends have accomplished much and hope to achieve more, despite continued cuts to council funding. However, we have become fewer in number, as people, often after years of involvement, move away or to other interests, so:
We really need more people to contribute a bit of time to the Park.
Whether you choose occasionally to help with the flower beds, or volunteer at an event (e.g. Halloween, etc.), or otherwise take up some role with the Friends, you may find it’s actually interesting, rewarding and fun. And, your entire local community will benefit.
Local parks are important! And it can be very easy to take them for granted.
Please help the Friends continue to make Heaton Moor Park the very special place it is. Without the effort and funding contributed by Friends of Heaton Moor Park, there would be no gorgeous flower beds (which are NOT maintained AT ALL by the Council), picnic benches, Woodland Walk, Willow Tunnel and many other amenities enjoyed by all.
If you can attend our ‘Evening in the Park’: That will be great! If possible please RSVP so we can plan the catering – email heatonmoorpark@gmail.com or use the contact page on this website.
If you can’t make the evening but would like to get involved: That will be wonderful! Simply email heatonmoorpark@gmail.com or use the contact page on this website.
We look forward to hearing from you soon and welcoming you to the Friends.
