The Friends were busy Gardening in the Park today, with lovely sunny weather and a light breeze.
As most of you know, because of ongoing cuts to council budgets, the council does NO work on any of the flower beds in the Park. The Friends hold a Garden in the Park day each month to help the borders, centre isle, Rotary rockery and other amenities as beautiful as possible.
A generous donation of 300 bulbs from Broadstone Mill wended its way through the Heatons Post team, onward to Sustainable Living in the Heatons and arriving just in time for our April Gardening day.
Some Internet research revealed that bulbs are planted better late than never, so we are crossing our fingers and trowels that the tulips, daffodils, crocus and allium will show off their finery over the next few years.
As you can see from the wheelbarrow, we also managed some twig trawling and pruning in preparation for the Easter Egg Hunt to take place this coming Saturday.
