Who are the Friends of Heaton Moor Park

The Friends of Heaton Moor Park are a group of volunteers. We meet regularly and are actively involved in the park’s management, maintenance and improvement.

We work with the local council to meet the challenges of keeping the park open and attractive to a variety of users. This is a challenge as there is considerable pressure on local authority finances and there is pressure on the park use by the new housing being built in the Heaton Moor Area.

The current Friends group evolved from a group of local residents who formed the Heaton Moor Park Action Group in 1995 with the aim of reversing the poor condition of the park at that time. The Action group became the Friends of Heaton Moor Park in 1997.  For full history of the Park and the work of the group, see our history.
