A great addition to the Friends’ efforts to increase wildflowers in the area came from the Heaton Chapel Rainbows. The Rainbows, who are girl guides ages 4-7, gave the Friends two gorgeous baskets of wildflower ‘Seed Bombs.’
The ‘bombs’ (which are happily perfectly safe) consist of 4-5 balls of wildflower seeds in a small burlap bag. You simply empty the bag into some raked over soil and add a bit more soil on top, and a variety of wildflowers will spring up.
The Friends were pleased to provide these to guests at the recent Evening in Park and have a few left to go into the Wildflower mum’s memorial bed around the tennis court and a future tombola.
