Friends of Heaton Moor Park support the ongoing maintenance and improvements to Heaton Moor Park. But we do not operate alone.
We are very grateful for the recent donations made by other community groups and help from a local business!
Moor Running Friends, held a popular Bacon Butty Breakfast and donated the proceeds to the Friends.
Moor Running Friends run in the park the 2 or 3 middle Saturdays of each month; the first and last Saturday they run elsewhere.
One of the Heatons Open Gardens, which is organised by Stockport Lamplighter Rotary, donated the proceeds of their coffee/tea/cake stall to the Park.
Pictured are Barbara Sherlock, President of the Rotary Stockport Lamplighters club, and Anne Brown, gardener extraordinaire, taking a break from showing visitors the beautiful landscaping and serving tea and coffee.
These donations, which added up to almost £300 will be used towards the purchase of another picnic table. The two additional tables installed in early 2022 have proved very popular. The new table, which will be wheelchair-user friendly, will bring the total number of picnic tables to 4.
We are also very grateful to Stockport Lamplighters for their help with the Easter Egg Hunt.
Speaking of the Easter Egg Hunt, we would also like to thank to Cork of the North, Heaton Moor for assiduously amassing several hundred corks and donating them to the cause!
Finally, as you know, the SummerFest will take place in Heaton Moor Park on Sunday 10th July.
Friends of Heaton Moor Park initiated a summer festival in 1997. It proved very popular and eventually outgrew what a small group can manage.
So we are very happy that the team at the Heatons Post is organising the event this year, after a couple of years’ break.
